URL Parameters

Article Overview

Imagine a treasure map where an address tells you where to go, and extra notes help you find the treasure faster. URL parameters are like those extra notes. They are tiny pieces of information added to the end of a website link (URL) that help a system understand what you want it to do.

TIP: URL Parameters work hand-in-hand with SalesRabbit Quick Links. Quick Links are only available to Pro Accounts or higher.

Part 1: URL Parameters

  • When using Quick Links in SalesRabbit+, you'll map a parameter, like "name={Name}", making the value dynamic. That means it changes based on the data from SalesRabbit. So, instead of the value always being 'John" it would pass the name on the lead.
    • When mapped in SalesRabbit, it would appear as "name={Name}" in the URL.

Part 2: Why Use URL Parameters with Quick Links

  • Quick Links allow you to send information from SalesRabbit to other Systems, saving you from double entry. If you want to send a customer's name and phone number to another form, adding URL parameters will automatically populate and pass that data for you.
    • For example, when creating a SalesRabbit Quick Link for a Calendly link, if the Calendly link has parameters in the URL, lead information will pre-fill fields on the Calendly booking page.

Part 3: How to Find the Right Parameters

  1. Check your form: open the form you want to link to and inspect the URL when you fill in a field. Sometimes, the URL will show the parameter (this is the most straightforward path).
  2. Ask ChatGPT for Help: If you're not sure which parameters your form uses, you can try this prompt within ChatGPT:
    • "I'm using [Your Form's URL] and want to know which URL parameters it accepts. Can you help me find them?"
      • Once you know your parameters, you can then either:
        • Build the URL yourself (you now have the formula, remember: url.com?field=&field-2=)
      • Ask ChatGPT to build the URL for you:
        • "I'd like to include the following parameters:... Please build a URL with the outlined parameters"
  3. Test It Out: add your URL (with those added parameters!) in the Quick Links creation drawer.
    • You'll know if it's working if the creation drawer presents fields for you to map.

  • Note: Other softwares will typically have an article or resource detailing their parameters.

Part 4: Testing Your Quick Link

  • Copy the link you've made with your parameters.
  • Paste it in a new browser tab and press Enter
  • If the form displays the parameters, like "{name}" and "{email}", in the proper fields... you did it right!

  • If it doesn't work, or the form fields are empty, double-check your parameters or reach out to our support team for assistance.

Pro Tips

  • Make sure the parameters match the form's exact names (capitalization matters).
  • A Parameter Reference Sheet for fields in SalesRabbit can be found when creating a Quick Link
  • Check for extra spaces in the URL (this can throw you of, especially if there is a space at the beginning of the URL).
  • Make sure to use "&" to separate multiple parameters
